Basketball Numbering Kit

ALLENTOWN, PA — A new DiGiT™ Screen Printing Kit for numbering of NCAA basketball jerseys, has been introduced by Vastex International.

The system consists of a single sliding rail assembly (secured by the rear clamp of a manual screen printing press that has one to six stations) that holds one numbering screen burned with numbers 0-1-2-3-4-5 (NCAA basketball jerseys lack numbers 6-7-8-9)

The rail assembly has a roller bearing with detents and a yellow target arrow, allowing the operator to slide the screen left or right, and simply lower it to lock the desired number in place, ready to print.

The system features five detent positions for each number, enabling the operator to fully compensate for the thinner number "1" in two ways: first, by removing excess space between the thinner number "1" and the adjacent number, and second, by centering the resulting two-digit number on the shirt, all in about five seconds.

The sliding rail assembly, which fits virtually any rear clamp manual press, accommodates

a 23 x 47 in. screen containing one set of 10 in. numbers, a 23 x 47 in. screen containing one set of 8 in. numbers, or a 23 x 38 in. screen containing one combination set of 6 and 4 in. numbers. A second rail assembly can be added to an additional station, providing two additional capabilities: 1) allowing numbers 0-1-2-3-4-5 to be printed in one color with outlines in a second color for NCAA basketball shirts, or 2) allowing numbers 1-2-3-4-5 and 6-7-8-9-0 to be printed in one color for NBA, WNBA and FIBA basketball jerseys, as well as for soccer, football and other athletic shirts. Adding a second set of sliding rail assemblies (total of four) allows all 10 numbers to be printed with outlines in a second color.

According to the company, one operator can print up to 60, 2-digit basketball shirts per hour in one color, or up to 40 in two colors. Two operators can print up to 120, 2-digit shirts per hour in one color, or up to 60 in two colors.

The sliding screens can also be used for printing of other variable graphics such as team names, sponsor names and chest images,

while press stations not being used for variable printing can be used with regular screens in normal fashion, or as loading/unloading stations.

In addition to DiGiT rail assemblies, the company offers exposed screens, blank screens and film positives. Because numbers 0 through 5 fit on one standard size screen instead of an extra long numbering screen, shops can save money by exposing their own screens using film positives available from Vastex.

Model DiGiT-RA and DiGiT-CA system rail assemblies, numbering screens, screen positives, squeegees and squeegee rest tubes can be purchased as components or complete packages with one numbering screen, and without.

Also offered are V2NS-8 and V2NS-12 systems for printing all 10 numbers up to 8 in. and 12 in. respectively.
